Shenzhen's environmental sanitation index in November was 89.99, up 0.86 points from the previous month, according to the index report released by the Shenzhen Municipal Urban Administration and Law Enforcement Bureau yesterday.

Meanwhile, on-site examination and resident satisfaction indices scored 91.11 and 79.92, respectively.

Shenzhen launched a 100-day campaign Oct. 22 to improve urban appearance and environmental sanitation. The city’s on-site examination index in November hit a record high, said Shenzhen Special Zone Daily.

Futian District reclaimed the top spot in November’s ranking after being dethroned by Yantian District in September and October. Yantian District and Dapeng New Area ranked second and third, respectively, while Longgang, Longhua and Nanshan districts were at the bottom of the list.

In terms of subdistricts, Fubao, Huaqiangbei and Shatoujiao subdistricts took the top three spots, according to the report.

Pingshan District saw a solid progress in November. Its environmental sanitation index in November was up 1.89 points compared to last month’s performance, bringing its ranking to the list’s sixth place.

Urban villages scored 86.46 points in November; 0.77 points higher than October.

The city’s urban administration bureau also issued a toilet environment index on the same day, which shows the city’s public toilet environment index in November was 93.45 points, up 0.16 points from the previous month.

The airport, Metro stations and checkpoints took the top three spots in the toilet environment index ranking. However, the toilet environment at vehicle charging stations was the only one that scored less than 90 points in the index.

By the end of November, Shenzhen completed renovating 700 public toilets and since implementing its “toilet revolution” in 2018, 374 public toilets were newly built and 3,001 were renovated in the city, according to the bureau.
